The brief was to create a boutique villa resort comprising four separate villas amongst a coconut grove in the village of Candi Dasa, on the east coast of Bali, Indonesia. 5-star quality was essential in order to market to international guests, especially from Europe, Asia, the USA and Australia. To establish market edge, the design needed to be unique, stylish, yet sympathetic to Balinese culture. Little disturbance was to be caused to the natural vegetation on the site which consisted of coconut palms, native palms, a large frangipani and numerous banana trees. A landscape design was also integral to the overall ambience of the project along with furniture selection and/or design. This stunning resort is sympathetic to the natural vegetation on the site, and is a most worthy of the award for the Best Design of a Special Project.
