A home that sits lightly on the ground using a balance of old and new natural, recycled and raw materials with a design that pays homage to iconic Australian architecture in the form of a modern "wool shed" home has achieved a distinctive aesthetic through sustainable design considerations, including recycled materials.

From its exterior, Maxa Design have retained the existing rendered brick walls from the previous owners, which have been creatively integrated to provide private courtyard spaces and structural support of walls and decks.

The interiors feature recycled brick walls that define spaces, providing thermal storage, artwork hanging space and structural stability.

The interior brick walls built from recycled bricks provide the rustic backdrop for the slick, stainless-steel commercial-style kitchen. In the living room, the brick walls incorporate the fireplace with a welcoming visual, both in colour, texture and form. Bedroom ambience is further enhanced through the simple and rustic palette of the bricks set against the texture of the floor boards.

This project demonstrates the designers' expertise to innovatively use brick in a simple, relaxed manner that enhances the design of this home.
