Cost Of Membership

The cost of membership of the BDAV is determined annually by the BDAV's Committee of Management and is currently as follows:

*NOTE: Corporate Member-Assessor is only available to applicants whose business is solely involved in energy ratings, and who are also applying for accreditation as either a TPA and/or HSA through the BDAV.

BDAV membership fees are payable in advance by the 1st July each year. A Tax Invoice is issued to each Member prior to the renewal date to facilitate payment. A 20% Late Payment Penalty applies to annual membership fees that are not paid by the due renewal date.

Applicants for membership must pre-pay their first year's membership fee plus joining fee (where applicable) with their application for membership. A Tax Invoice is issued for GST purposes, following receipt of payment.

Applicants for membership who are wishing to join the BDAV during the course of a financial year may be eligible to pay a pro-rata first year's membership fee to bring their subscription fee in line with the BDAV's renewal period. Such applicants should contact the BDAV for details. Note the Joining Fee is not pro-rated.

Members who resign from membership are not eligible for a refund of fees paid for the current financial year. Cases of extreme hardship may be considered for refund if resigning from membership; however, the member must return their membership certificate to the BDAV with the request for refund.

Loyalty Discount

In 2008, the BDAV's Committee of Management introduced a Loyalty Discount to recognise long-serving members. Members who have held 10-15 years' continuous membership of the BDAV receive a 10% discount off their annual membership fee. Members who have held 15 or more years of continuous membership of the BDAV receive a 15% discount off their annual membership fee. Such discount, which is reflected on the Member's subscription renewal invoice, is only valid if the member pays their subscription fee by the due date (1st July), otherwise the discount is automatically cancelled.

Firms with Multiple Design Staff

Design practices who have more than one design staff and who wish to seek 'group membership' of the BDAV may be eligible for a rebate off their annual fee, provided:

• each person to be covered by the 'group membership' works within the same firm (not necessarily at the same geographic location);
• a written request is received by the BDAV which lists the name of each person to be covered under the group membership, and which is signed by each such person;
• the annual membership fee is paid to the BDAV in one payment by the firm, and is not paid individually by the named personnel.

Membership entitlements may not be transferred to any other person working within the firm who is not named by the firm.

The annual fee for 'group membership' is calculated based on the normal annual fee that would apply to each of the individuals, however a rebate is offered annually to the firm as follows, which is reflected in the firm's subscription renewal invoice:

Should any of the employees leave the firm but wish to retain their BDAV Membership, their annual fee is calculated based on the normal annual fee that would apply to their membership category, and they will no longer be entitled to any component of rebate off their annual fee.
