BDAV CPD Webinar, 26 April 2017

Managing risk effectively is a daily and on-going occurrence in any design or architectural practice. Internal and external risks can impact a business if not managed effectively. Assessing potential business threats is a prudent activity. At this webinar, Chris Webber from Webber Insurance Services and Steven Donley from global law firm Clyde & Co will speak on managing difficult engagements from the insurance and legal aspects. Chris will present a brief insurance update focusing on risk management aspects. Steven will discuss:
-  Recent Building Designer claims issues.
-  Managing difficult engagements - unreasonable owners keep increasing the scope and build cost during the project. They then cancel the project or it gets knocked back by the Council at the town planning stage.
-  Terms of engagement.
-  Limitation of liability.

'Frank Lloyd Wright' Study Tour, USA, late September 2017

The BDAV - in association with Impact Events - is co-ordinating an overseas study tour to New York and Chicago from 24 September to 3 October 2017, to time with a unique exhibition of Frank Lloyd Wright's work. Marking the 150th anniversary of the celebrated American architect's birth on 8 Jun 1867, MoMA in New York is presenting Frank Lloyd Wright at 150: Unpacking the Archive, a major exhibition running from 12 June to 1 October 2017 that critically engages his multi-faceted practice. The exhibition comprises approximately 450 works made from the 1890s through to the 1950s, including architectural drawings, models, building fragments, films, television broadcasts, print media, furniture, tableware, textiles, paintings, photographs, and scrapbooks, along with a number of works that have rarely or never been publicly exhibited. Our tour will coincide with this 'once in a lifetime event. The last time MoMA exhibited most of Frank Lloyd Wright's drawings, models, etc, was before he passed away.
