Tralee – Moonah Links

It was not only the carefully considered glazing types used in this golf side location that makes Tralee a winner for the Most Innovative Use of Glass, but the overall scale and placement that make it special.

Each room is treated individually with glazed components to either encourage or protect from the landscape and its views. Double height spaces are accentuated and appear to continue through windows. Views are created and highlighted. Privacy and cosiness is achieved where required. Cross-ventilation is encouraged. Openness and natural light soak the communal spaces. All these are achieved through the careful and considered placement of glass.

Technically, Viridian Sunergy hard coat pyrolytic Low E double glazing, with high light transmission and low reflectivity reducing both solar heat gain and heat loss for winter and summer, is specified extensively for the suspended glazing elements. Summer sea-breeze interior cross-ventilation is achieved with strategically placed louvred window elements.

The project also won Building Design of the Year as well as Residential Design–New Houses: over $1M and Interior Design–Residential.
