Work Readiness Course
The BDAV developed a Work Readiness Course in 2008 which assists recent graduates or new employees to minimise their confusion when they enter the workforce, and to make them more ‘work ready’. The BDAV Work Readiness Course runs over two days. It is a bridging program between the theory that students learn during their studies in their Building Design course and what actually occurs, in the practical sense, in a building design firm, thus helping them improve their knowledge and skills, for the benefit of the employee and the employer.
The course provides participants with knowledge of what happens in practice in areas such as –
- Planning and building approval processes;
- Relationships with other design consultants and disciplines;
- Preparation of drawings and specifications;
- Basic elements of contract law;
- Art of communications.
